Palmetto Trail Hike

December 2, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

On December 2nd, MMNA plans a visit to the Palmetto Trail in order to promote awareness and use of the trail. We will visit the Peak to Prosperity Passage starting at the Alston Trailhead (directions below). During our visit we will take photos of nature we see in order to 1) share with the Palmetto Conservation Foundation to use in their social media/promotions and 2) provide updates to our friends on social media during or after our hike to promote awareness and use of the trail.

We will meet at 10:00am and walk in 2 miles and then back. This passage includes a beautiful railroad bridge across the Broad River.  We should be done at noon. Participation counts as volunteer hours because we’re promoting awareness of nature and conservation with the photos we share.

What to bring: Binoculars, camera, water, snack, sunscreen, hat

Directions to Alston Trailhead:
Alston Trailhead: From Columbia: I-26, exit 97, take US 176 west 11 miles; turn east on SC 213; drive 3.1 miles, turn right onto Alston Road (1st road after the bridge); road changes to unpaved, take right fork, cross RR track and go under the trestle; parking is on the left at the top.
