MMNA Quarterly Meeting

You don’t want to miss this one! Gopher Tortoises!!  A unique chance to learn about this endangered species, and work being done to save them in SC.

Location:  Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center, 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce, SC 29033

We have the upstairs room and there is ample parking in the tennis center lot. The entrance to the Cayce 12,000 Year History Park/Timmerman Trail is next door – a great area for a nature walk before or after the meeting.

Coffee provided. Bring a snack to share if inclined.

 

Our speaker for the August 3rd quarterly meeting will be Barry Kesler from the SC Department of Natural Resources. Barry is Heritage Preserve Biologist for region 3 (Sandhills and Upper Coastal Plain) and will be talking about the work at one of his Heritage Preserves, the Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve, concerning the gopher tortoise and other associated rare herps.

Cross the Blossom St bridge headed away from Columbia toward West Columbia onto Knox Abbot Dr, turn left on 12th Street Ext toward I-77, and the turn is about 4 miles on the left, before reaching I-77. There is a Courtyard by Marriott on the corner. The address works with GPS.
